How to configure Reverse shipment fee?

Introduction

Managing returns comes with logistical costs, and a reverse shipment fee helps brands offset expenses while encouraging mindful shopping. Charging a return shipping fee ensures that the return process remains efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable, reducing unnecessary returns and improving operational balance.

With EcoReturns, brands can seamlessly implement a reverse shipment fee, whether it’s a flat rate or variable pricing based on product categories, or request type (Return or Exchange).

Configuring Reverse shipment fee

To charge reverse shipment fee based on conditions follow the below steps.

  1. Go to Reverse Shipments under Settings.

  2. You can either charge a flat fee or deduct the label/shipment cost from the refund.

  3. To encourage people to exchange and not return, EcoReturns lets you configure different reverse shipment fee for both return and exchange requests. To further encourage exchanges you can check the option 'Do not charge for the first exchange request for an order'.

  4. As there can be multiple items in an order, you can configure to charge the reverse shipment fee on item level or order level

  5. Although reverse shipment fee can be deducted from refund, EcoReturns lets you collect the reverse shipment fee upfront through third party payment providers like Stripe, Razorpay, Cashfree. You can integrate those payment providers from our Integrations page to collect payment upfront.

  6. EcoReturns also lets you charge dynamic reverse shipment fee based on the product. You just need to configure the product tag and the associated reverse shipment fee with it. You can add multiple product tags associated with different product categories.
